"Donkey": Eddie Murphy Shrek Spinoff Sets Summer 2028 Release

The lovable, fast-talking Donkey from the Shrek franchise is officially getting his own movie. Eddie Murphy previously hinted that a Donkey spinoff was in development, and now DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures have confirmed the project will hit theaters on June 30, 2028. The animated film will serve as an origin story, exploring how Donkey became the wisecracking character fans met in the Shrek movies. Murphy previously revealed that the story will also include Donkey's dragon wife and their half-dragon, half-donkey children. The film will be directed by Charlie Bean, known for The Lego Batman Movie, with producer Rebecca Huntley and co-director Matt Flynn. The announcement comes one year before the release of Shrek 5, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 30, 2027.

The Yellowstone universe is getting even bigger. Paramount+ has officially renewed Dutton Ranch for a second season after the show's massive debut earlier this year. The series follows fan-favorite couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, as they leave Montana and the Yellowstone behind for a fresh start in South Texas. Their new life quickly becomes complicated when they find themselves at odds with rival ranch owner Beluah Jackson, played by Annette Bening. Season 1 premiered in May and became an instant hit, drawing 12.9 million views during its first week and setting a new record as the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. To announce the renewal, Paramount+ released a teaser carrying the message: "Peace will have to wait," hinting that more conflict is on the way for Beth and Rip.

Snapchat Reportedly In Talks To Pay Robert Downey Jr. Crazy Fee

Snapchat has unveiled its new augmented reality glasses, called Specs, but the high-tech eyewear has already generated plenty of online criticism over its bulky design and hefty price tag. The glasses, which are expected to sell for $2,195 when they launch this fall, were introduced as a device that blends digital content with the real world through see-through lenses. According to reports, Snap is now in talks with Robert Downey Jr. about a potential $100 million stock-based ambassador deal to help promote the product. The move would make sense given Downey's association with Tony Stark in the Marvel movies, where futuristic AR-style glasses and advanced technology were a major part of the character's image. Snap CEO Evan Spiegel says the glasses are designed to create shared real-world experiences without constantly looking down at a phone. However, investors and social media users have been less enthusiastic, with Snap's stock reportedly falling after the announcement and many online commenters poking fun at the glasses' appearance. The company appears hopeful that a high-profile partnership with Downey could help reshape public perception ahead of the product's release.

Whitney Houston's Furious Family Lashes Out At Oprah

The family of late singer Whitney Houston is disputing recent comments made by Oprah Winfrey about an incident in which Houston reportedly fell off a stage during an appearance connected to The Oprah Winfrey Show. Speaking at a recent event, Winfrey claimed Houston had relapsed at the time and said she persuaded audience members not to release photos because she feared the incident would damage the singer's career. However, Houston's estate strongly rejected that version of events. Pat Houston, who oversees the estate, said Whitney did fall, but during a dark soundcheck while unfamiliar with the stage setup—not because she was under the influence of drugs. The estate acknowledged Houston's well-documented struggles with addiction but said it is unfair to assume every incident in her life was connected to substance abuse. The statement emphasized that Houston was a dedicated professional and urged people to remember her accomplishments and tell the story accurately rather than repeat what the family calls misconceptions.

Google Invests $75 Million In A24 To Develop AI-Powered Filmmaking Tools

A24 is teaming up with Google's DeepMind in a new AI partnership aimed at creating filmmaking tools—not replacing filmmakers. As part of the deal, Google is investing about $75 million, giving A24 access to DeepMind's AI research and technology. The companies say they'll focus on tools that help with creative tasks like AI-generated storyboards while keeping filmmakers in control of the creative process. A24 emphasized that Google will not have access to the studio's film library or data. The partnership reflects Hollywood's growing embrace of AI, with studios experimenting with new technology even as copyright concerns and legal battles continue across the industry. A24 says its goal is to use AI to support creativity and risk-taking, rather than simply making movies cheaper or faster.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off Star Makes Rare Comments About Bad Experience Filming The Movie

Mia Sara is opening up about why she rarely talks about Ferris Bueller's Day Off, calling her experience making the beloved 1986 classic "not that good." The actress, who played Ferris' girlfriend Sloane Peterson, said she had a difficult working relationship with director John Hughes. She described him as a "strange guy" and admitted that, at 17, she lacked the emotional maturity to handle the personalities on set. Despite her personal experience, she says she understands how much the film means to fans. Sara largely stepped away from Hollywood because acting "was not a happy career" for her. She focused instead on raising her family and writing poetry, eventually moving to England with her husband, Brian Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson. After more than a decade away from acting, Sara returned to the screen in 2024's The Life of Chuck, while continuing to pursue her passion for poetry.

Mayor Calls For Cancellation Of Kanye's July 4th Concert In San Antonio

Kanye West's planned July 4 concert in San Antonio is facing growing backlash. Just a day after tickets went on sale, Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones publicly called for the show to be canceled, saying the city shouldn't host someone with a history of antisemitic remarks and hate speech at the publicly owned Alamodome—especially on Independence Day. The San Antonio controversy is the latest in a string of opposition to West's performances. Recent shows in Prague, Poland, France, and the U.K. have been canceled or blocked, and Australia previously denied him a visa. While West apologized earlier this year for his 2025 antisemitic behavior, several upcoming U.S. concerts, including shows in Tampa, are also facing calls for cancellation from public officials. Despite the criticism, tickets for the San Antonio show remain on sale.

During an appearance at Spacecon 2026, the actress said Marvel "made a mistake" by not inviting her back, joking that she's terrible at keeping secrets, so fans would have known if she'd been cast. Janssen first played Jean Grey in 2000's X-Men and returned for X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, plus brief appearances in The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past. While several of her former co-stars—including James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart and Alan Cumming—are returning for Doomsday, Janssen didn't make the cast list. The actress said fans constantly ask if Jean Grey will ever return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and admitted she's flattered the character is still so popular after all these years.

Tom Hanks Insults MS Now Reporter

As the actor arrived, MS NOW correspondent Jacob Soboroff approached him during a live broadcast. When Soboroff replied that millions would be watching now that Hanks was on the air, the actor deadpanned, "All right... add a zero to it," before stopping to answer questions about the event. The exchange quickly spread across social media, with many viewers surprised to see Hanks—who has long been associated with Democratic causes—taking a lighthearted swipe at the liberal cable network.

Simmons and Tom Brittney, the series follows New York City's notorious Irish-American gang in the early 1980s as they battle internal power struggles, clash with the Gambino crime family, and attract FBI attention. Creator Chris Brancato says viewers shouldn't get too attached to the characters because there's a significant body count. To recreate gritty 1980s New York, producers built a 240-foot street set in Toronto, complete with period details. Brancato also joked that while the era featured President Trump, the show leaves him out because "he gets enough press."

Hank Azaria Isn't Happy Taylor Swift Got Courtside Knicks Tickets

Hank Azaria admits he was a little annoyed to see Taylor Swift sitting courtside at a recent NBA Finals game. Speaking on a sports podcast, the longtime Simpsons star joked that fans had already seen plenty of Swift during NFL broadcasts and said he was tired of the "Taylor sports" phenomenon. Azaria stressed that he understood why someone as famous as Swift would get prime seats, but said he found the constant celebrity spotlight a bit much. Swift attended Game 4 alongside members of HAIM and actress Mariska Hargitay, wearing Knicks-themed gear as New York mounted a historic comeback on its way to winning its first NBA title in 53 years. Azaria said most celebrities aren't sitting courtside and revealed he was seated high in the arena with other stars, including Questlove, Rainn Wilson, and Jeremy Strong. He joked that only the A-list gets the seats everyone sees on TV.
